Alfalfa is a member of the legume (pea) family and also considered to be a herb. It provides a range of nutrients including vitamin K, vitamin C, copper, manganese, folate, thiamine, riboflavin, magnesium, and Iron. It also contains protein and has a high content of bioactive plant compounds including saponins, coumarins, flavonoids, phytosterols, phytoestrogens and alkaloids.
